In the 1950’s, this woman lived in a slum in São Paulo and earned her living collecting waste paper. She used to write about her daily life on old copybooks which were later published when a journalist knew her. She was translated and along with fame came anger from her old neighbors. She had made money and they thought she should share with them, besides they were ashamed of having their lives published. She continued writing, but died poor some years later.

Nos anos 1950, esta mulher vivia em uma favela em São Paulo e ganhava a vida recolhendo papel usado. Ela costumava escrever sobre sua vida diária em cadernos antigos que foram posteriormente publicados quando um jornalista a conheceu. Ela foi traduzida e, juntamente com a fama, veio a ira de seus antigos vizinhos. Ela tinha ganhado dinheiro e eles achavam que ela deveria compartilhar com eles, além disso eles tinham vergonha de ter suas vidas publicadas. Ela continuou a escrever, mas morreu pobre alguns anos mais tarde.
