:: Weekly Photo Challenge: From Above

Last week I came across these surface roots of a Ficus Benjamina. It’s the kind of tree that grows too much and its roots need to spread and take all the space they can find. The curb tries to restrain them and for some time it does, but sooner or later the roots will break the stones or will lift them and the street asphalt, too.

Na semana passada topei com essas raízes superficiais de um Ficus Benjamina. É o tipo de árvore que cresce tanto que suas raízes precisam se espalhar e tomar todo o espaço que encontram. O meio-fio tenta contê-las e por algum tempo consegue, mas, mais cedo ou mais tarde, as raízes vão quebrar as pedras ou levantá-las e também o asfalto da rua.
